Hello folks! I'm getting quiet again, but I have actual progress to report on a project! Ain't that something new?!
fractured starlight is a poetry collection that I wrote a long time ago. It has been called "raw", "emotional", "terrifying", and "what the hell is wrong with you" by various people. It remains the work of mine that I'm most proud of, and for a while I'd been toying with the idea of making it my first poetry collection to be released. To be honest, I've been scared to do it for a long time. I'm already afraid of putting myself out there, but this work in particular is so personal that the thought of sticking it under the Internet's collective microscope makes me sick at times. But you know what? I need to just do it anyway. So I'm gonna do it.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been messing with the layout of the physical book. When I was in elementary school we got to make books one year as a class project, and I don't remember it being quite this hard. Trying to figure out where everything needs to go on the page and how one is supposed to print this is tough for me to wrap my brain around, but I'm gradually figuring it out. (I do feel guilty about all the paper I'm wasting, though.) Hopefully soon I will have the physical copy 100% nailed down.
As for where the book will be sold, I'm still deciding that. I was originally planning to sell physical editions on Etsy and ebooks on itch.io, but I'm debating just making one store and sticking them all there instead. I still have some research to do on storefronts and such before I come to a decision there.
Also to be addressed: There are three poems in fractured starlight that had to have their formatting changed in order to properly fit in the physical copy of the book. I plan on making these three poems available to read on my blog, partly as a sort of preview for the full collection and partly so that people who just buy the physical edition will be able to see how these poems were meant to be read. They will also be in the ebook with their original formatting in tact. I'm not sure when I'll be posting those, but I will almost certainly be posting them to Patreon a few days before they are posted publicly.
To those who are reading and have read this far, thank you. This has been one of multiple difficult journeys I've taken over the past couple of years, and any support I receive is much appreciated. Stay tuned for more updates on fractured starlight coming to a tiny website near you!
